Description

This Course investigates the emergence and evolution of hip hop as on of the most popular and influential art forms of recent history. Students will develop their close reading and critical thinking skill by analyzing and writing about the innovative poetic techniques exemplified in the work of various hip-hop lyricits throughout the past several decades while learning about the cultural contexts in which this art form, and hip-hop culture more generally, orginated. Student's mastery of course learning objectives will be measured by exams and a term paper.
